The Queen presented new Colours to the country’s oldest regiment today as its soldiers became the first to wear her Diamond Jubilee medal on parade.

The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief of the Coldstream Guards, gave the unit’s 1st and 2nd Battalions new regimental banners at Windsor Castle.

During the ceremony two colours – one regimental, the other the Queen’s colour – were presented by the Queen to both battalions.
